The Ayden Chamber partnered with the Pitt County Education Foundation and sponsored a day of professional development for the 20 teacher in the Teacher Executive Institute program.
On April 27, 2023, the Ayden Chamber started the day with breakfast for the teacher provided by Andy’s Grill and Gwendy’s Goodies. Commissioner Cindy Goff then lead the group on a tour of downtown Ayden. Stops included the Ayden Library, Coltrain Hardware, Happy’s Emporium, The Pocket Park, Town Hall and the Ayden Museum. The goal was to not only showcase Ayden but to inform the educators of what resources we had here for them and their students. The chamber discussed the importance of community and how the businesses work together for the community.
The day ended with lunch at Bum’s and a presentation by Dr. Cheryl Meola with Mane Source Counseling and Coaching and Malaika Albright with Freckles Farm. They taught the teachers various breathing techniques that can help not only their students but the teachers as well.
